OUR MISSION

To be the bridge between the most vulnerable in our community

and caring volunteers who make a difference.

OUR VISION

Healthy and happy kids in safe and thriving families.

Youth Services

Alongside the CASA programs in Placer and Yuba Counties, we offer specialized services to youth who are at high risk of exploitation and to youth whose lives intersect with the probation arm of the juvenile justice system.

COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATE (CASA) volunteers are appointed by a judge to advocate for foster children in court. CASAs are often called the “eyes and ears of the court and the voice of the child” in juvenile court proceedings.

BE BOLD partners at-risk youth with a specially trained CASA they can trust, learn with, and grow alongside. Youth and their partners meet weekly for fun, skill-building activities and come together once a month with a group of their peers.

K9s 4 Kids gives children who are experiencing trauma a chance to love and be loved by a polite, well-behaved dog. A dog can help facilitate an appropriate emotional connection for youth who have difficulty connecting with others.

Family Services

We believe the best way to serve the children we care so much about is to use a "Whole Family Approach" to break the generational cycles of abuse, neglect, and poverty that make foster care necessary in the first place. This includes innovative programs that partner struggling parents with trained Mentors, offer peer-to-peer support, and help them develop healthy, long-term parenting skills.

Family Mentors are CASAs with additional training to support at-risk parents who are either striving to reunify with their children, are recovering from substance use disorder or domestic violence, or are just struggling to hold their families together.

Prosper Placer serves families who live at or below the poverty level and are motivated to make lasting changes in their lives. Prosper Placer brings together volunteers and parents in group settings to develop an intentional community of support, where volunteers help parents by sharing their knowledge, connections, and friendships.

Your financial gift will provide Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) and Mentors for foster children, at-risk youth, and families in need.

Needs

1. We need mature, consistent adults (age 21+) to volunteer as:

- Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) to children in foster care.

- Mentors for at-risk youth, and youth who are navigating the juvenile probation system.

- Family Mentors to partner with parents who are learning to build safe homes for their children.

- Prosper Placer Allies to come alongside families who are motived and ready to overcome economic barriers and escape poverty.

2. We need generous financial partners to ensure our ability to:

- Recruit, train, and thoroughly equip enough volunteers to advocate for every child in foster care.

- Provide meaningful, long-term mentorship to at-risk youth.

- Serve struggling families as they work to build safe, stable homes where their children can thrive.

- Provide extracurricular/enrichment opportunities for foster children and at-risk youth who lack resources to enjoy normal childhood activities, including sports, theater, arts, summer camp, drivers training, and special events, like birthday parties and high school dances.

3. We need Board Members with strong community ties and a desire to create lasting change.
